This privacy policy explains why I collect your personal data and how I use it. It also explains what right you have to access or change your personal data.
Your privacy is important to me and I take my responsibility to protect your information seriously. If you have any questions or concerns about privacy or data protection, please contact me.
Who I am
Future Worlds Editing is the trading name of Jake Nicholls. My website address is: https://www.futureworldsediting.co.uk.
What personal data I collect and why I collect it
When you contact me
I collect information from you when you correspond with me. The information that I collect might include:
- your name and contact details,
- which services you are interested in,
- information related to your enquiry, such as details about your manuscript.
I collect this information in order to respond your queries or requests for information regarding my services.
Contact forms
If you send me a message via a contact form on this site, I collect any personal data that you submit through that form. This includes your name, email, and any personal information you share in your message. This submission data is stored on my website server so that important messages aren’t lost due to mail server issues.
I keep contact form submissions for up to one year for customer service purposes. I will not use the information submitted through contact forms for marketing purposes unless you give me permission to do so.
When you subscribe to my newsletter
If you sign up to receive my newsletter, I collect the email address that you provide and use it to send you emails. I will only send you emails which you have signed up to receive. My site also logs the IP address you used when you signed up for the service to prevent abuse of the system.
This website can send emails through the MailPoet sending service. This service allows me to track opens and clicks on my emails. I use this information to improve the content of my newsletters. MailPoet logs email addresses in order to provide this service. It does not otherwise track or store subscriber data.
I will keep your information until you opt out of receiving my newsletter. You can unsubscribe from my newsletter at any time through an automated system, linked at the bottom of each email.
Analytics
I use Koko Analytics (link opens in a new tab) on this website for analytics purposes. This is an open source analytics plugin that doesn’t use any external services, so visitors’ data never leaves this site and is never shared with any third parties. It does not track personal information or anything that could lead back to a specific visitor. I have configured the plugin so that it does not use cookies. You can opt out of tracking by enabling “Do Not Track” in your browser settings.
Cookies
This website only uses the cookies that WordPress installs by default for functionality:
- If you leave a comment on this site you may opt in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
- If you visit this website’s login page, it will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
Comments
When you leave a comment on this site, I collect the data that you submit through the comments form. This may include your name, email address, website, and anything you write in the comment. Your IP address and browser user agent string may be collected and checked through an automated spam detection service.
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it (Gravatar service Privacy Policy (link opens in a new tab)). After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
